Mary E. Maitland
May 12, 1929 - Apr. 24, 2020

Mary E. Maitland, 90, of Perrysburg and Gowanda, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Elderwood of Williamsville, NY. She was born on May 12, 1929 in Gowanda, daughter of the late Albert and Amelia (Wagenblatt) Peters. Mary was married to William David Maitland who predeceased her on March 19, 2004. She was a clothing clerk at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center for 14 years as well as Moench Tanning in Gowanda for many years. Mary was a member of the Perrysburg Fireman’s Aux. and St. Joseph’s RC Church as well as a past member of the St. Joan of Arc RC Church in Perrysburg, and the Perrysburg Conservation Club.

She is survived by two daughters; Diane (Charles) Cappelino of Seneca Falls, NY, and Debra Maitland of Cheektowaga, NY, one sister, Ruth Palmer of South Dayton, NY as well as two grandchildren, Anthony Cappellino and Alison (Jeffrey) Crancz, and her fur grandchildren, Tigger and Lucy, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her loving husband and parents, Mary is predeceased by two brothers; Alfred and Kenneth Peters, and three sisters; Edna Lesefske, Viola Howard, and Carol Orth.

Private family viewing will be held.

A memorial mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Perrysburg Fire Dept. or the Diabetes Association.

Arrangments are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.
