Mary Josephine Malinowski of Jolls Road passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 18, 1956, at Silver Creek Hospital, Mary was the youngest of five children and the cherished only daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Winkler) Muscato. She grew up with a vibrant spirit that carried throughout her life.
On September 15, 1978, Mary was united in marriage to Michael J. Malinowski at the former United Methodist Church in Perrysburg. Together, they built a beautiful life and a warm, welcoming home on Jolls Road, sharing 41 devoted years of marriage before Michael's passing on July 29, 2019. Their open doors and generous hearts made their home a gathering place, leaving a lasting mark on the lives of their sons' wide circle of friends and many others.
Mary dedicated nearly 35 years of service to the State of New York, retiring from WNYDDSO as a Therapy Aide, a role that reflected her natural compassion and desire to help others.
A proud military wife and mother to sons in the Marine Corps and Army, Mary's devotion to service extended deep into her community. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5007 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 409. She poured her heart into cooking for and participating in countless fundraisers - a proud tradition carried on by her son Miles, who currently serves as Commander of the VFW.
Above all, Mary embraced life's simple and joy-filled moments. She had a passion for island vacations, hummingbirds, her beloved Buffalo Bills, and laughing along with her Golden Girls. Nothing brought her greater happiness than her family. She was blessed this past summer to welcome her newest granddaughter into the world, a precious moment that brought her immense joy.
Mary is survived by her loving sons, Michael Malinowski of Quinton, VA, and Miles (Andrea Zeafla) Malinowski of Perrysburg; her cherished grandchildren, Layna and Memphis Malinowski, Ellee Bartlett, and Logan Schwertfager; and her devoted brothers, John (Lynn Gillespie) Muscato, and Charles (Linda) Muscato, both of Huachuca City, AZ. She also leaves behind a cherished circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda , 4:00-7:00pm Thursday August 27, 2026 where Mary's funeral will be held Friday August 28, 2026 at 11:00am.
