Armed and Dangerous - Bonnie and Clyde are perched outside the Slovenian Club, guarding a safe and armed with dynamite and machine gun. This is just one example of the craftsmanship that individuals, merchants and organizations used to create scarecrows for the contest held during Gowanda's Heritage Harvest Festival. Gridiron Action - Gowanda quarterback Jeremy Garvey winds up to toss the pigskin during a football game against Eden. (Photo by David Hill)

Easy Riders - A steady stream of bikers travel down Sandhill Road in Gowanda to kick off the seventh annual Harley Happening at the Hollywood. (photo by Megan Pankow)

Canine Cash - Cub Pack 290 held a pop can drive and raised $168 to help offset the cost of Gowanda's new canine, Ambo. In addition, the Cub Scouts arranged for a lifetime supply of IAMS dog food for Ambo, courtesy of LADS Pet Supply in Eden. Over the three-month period, the group collected about 3,300 pop cans and bottles. (photo by Mary Pankow)

Reliving A Moment - Dale Beaver holds the Y stick, just as he did 50 years agowhen attempting to deliver orders to Erie Railroad train no. 98 as it traveled past the depot in Gowanda. The train missed the stick, and its excessive speed and sparks from its brakes prohibited Beaver from remaining trackside. The train soon after derailed and the wreck destroyed half the trestle over Cattaraugus Creek. (photo by Mary Pankow)

Christmas Elves? - Just as in the past, a decorated Christmas tree sits atop the Hollywood Theater marquee. Obviously, Christmas elves were busy giving Gowanda a holiday look, delighting young and old alike. (submitted photo)
