Chop top - Gowanda firefighters demonstrate one method of extracting victims from a car crash by removing the roof of the vehicle during the National Night Out Against Crime in August. 2002 - The year in review ...the pictures Crowd pleaser - Once again the Harley Happening at the Hollywood attracts thousands to Gowanda, who enjoy the show of bikes, fashions and tattoos during the event that focuses on raising funds to restore the Hollywood Theater. Chalk talk - Mary Elizabeth Gould gets a helping hand from her mom, Melissa, creating sidewalk art during Pioneer Days. Demonstration - The hoop dance is a popular feature at the Seneca Fall Festival. A year later - Firefighters, police officers and emergency services personnel leave St. Joseph's R.C. Church on Sept. 11, leading the crowd to Gowanda Fire Hall to continue the tribute and memorial to those whose lives were permanently scarred from the terrorists attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Plowing furrows - Even the horses can't believe hat they're seeing as ladies of all ages use their elbow grease to pull a plow at the Collins Plow Fest in May. Mad dash - Numbers are checked and second-chance drawing slips are filled out at the Gowanda Penny Saver/News office during Gowanda's Moonlight Madness. Celebrity visit - Jim Kelly travels to Gowanda to thank the students and staff of St. Joseph School for their successful fundraising efforts on behalf of Hunter's Hope Foundation.
