Guidelines for Gowanda’s Scarecrow Contest

     •Scarecrows must be a minimum of five feet tall.

     •Keep your theme in mind. Possible materials for your scarecrow could be plastic garbage bags, tree branches, old tools, kitchen utensils, uniforms, etc. Waterproof spray may be used.

     •All entrants, including residential, must report to the Hollywood Theater at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 to pick up their scarecrow identification/location label.

     •Entrants are responsible for providing materials for attaching scarecrows to poles (where applicable).

     •Judging will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18.

     •First-, second- and third-place cash prizes will be awarded in each classification during the Jon Wilder concert Saturday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Hollywood Theater.

     •All scarecrows are to be removed from poles by Oct. 1. This is the responsibility of those who entered the scarecrow in the competition.
