Shirley A. Quiter
Apr. 26, 1939 - Nov. 4, 2022

Shirley A. Quiter age 83 of Vail Road passed away Friday evening Nov. 4, 2022 at the Mercy Hospital In South Buffalo.

Born April 26, 1939 in Wilkinsburg, Pa. The daughter of Edward T. and Gertrude F. (Walker) Seasock.

Shirley worked on her family farm in her younger years, she worked for more than 15 years at the former Ames Dept Store in Collins before it’s closing. Shirley was a grandparent for the foster grandparent program through the Gowanda Elementary School for over 10 years and also worked at the former Gowanda Nursing home along with operating her catering business for more than 30 years.

Shirley was a member of the Collins Center Fire Dept. Auxillary for nearly 50 years, she was a past member of the Collins Center Home Bureau and the Collins Center PTA, she was honored for her many years of dedicated work with children and was a 4-H leader; she was also a member of the Collins Center Free Methodist Church; teaching Sunday School and was a Youth Group Leader. Shirley also delivered Meals on Wheels when her health permitted her to.

Survivors include two sons; Richard (Sharon) Quiter of Gowanda and Robert Quiter also of Gowanda. Although Shirley was considered grandma to many she is survived by five grandsons; Jacob, Kenneth and Paul Quiter, Brandon and Josh Ball. Shirley is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John L. Quiter (2012) and her son Timothy J. Quiter (2015).

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 4-7 p.m. Thursday where funeral services will be held Friday Nov. 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery Gowanda.
