Marvin A. Luther

Marvin A. Luther, 73, of Collins, passed away surrounded by family early this morning Sunday April 3, 2022 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Dunkirk.

Marvin was born in Springville, July 7, 1948 the son of Alton J. and Charlotte (Kuhlman) Luther.

A machinist, Marvin retired from American Wire and Tie in North Collins.

A former fire commissioner Marvin was recognized as Fireman of the Year in 1990 with the Collins Volunteer Fire Department, Marvin had over 40 years serving with the fire department and he was a major blood donor with the American Red Cross and received recognition for his continue support (a feat he was very proud of).

Marvin’s memberships include not only the Collins Volunteer Fire Department but also the Trinity United Church of Christ, Moose Lodge 1382 and the Lions Club, all of Gowanda.

Marvin is the beloved father of Lori (Ben Wright) Parsell of Collins, Ronald (Elizabeth) Luther of Elizabeth Town, Ky. His former wife and mother of his children, Peggy Plumb of Hamburg; grandchildren: Courtney (Jeff) Pendino, Kimberly Mrowczynski and Timothy ” TJ” Luther. Great-grandfather to Aidyn, Brady and Chase. Brother of James (Janet) Luther of Bliss; along with several nieces and nephews .

Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Brittany and Kaitlyn Parsell; a sister, Judy Heja (Judy’s husband, Jim survives of Cottage); and a son-in-law, Timothy Parsell.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 4-8 p.m., at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda, where funeral services will be held Thursday April 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Jess Kacalski officiating. Interment will be in Collins Center Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Collins Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 361 Collins, NY 14034 or to the Trinity United Church of Christ 30 Erie Ave. Gowanda , NY 14070.
