Doris Jean Layton
May 22, 1937 - Apr. 2, 2020

Doris Jean Layton, 82, of 7850 Route 83, South Dayton, formerly of North Collins, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the Lutheran Home & Rehab Center in Jamestown.

She was born May 22, 1937, in Fredonia, Delaware Township, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Clyde E. and Frances L. (McKnight) Winters.

Mrs. Layton was a 1956 graduate of Fredonia High School, Fredonia, Pa. She was a home maker for most of her adult life. She additionally had worked for the Gowanda Nursing home for eight years and Value Home Center for 13 years.

She was a member of the Conewango Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. And more recently had attended the Jamestown West Congregation. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, spending time with her cildren and grandchildren.

Mrs. Layton is survived by her children: twins: Larry Layton of Orchard Park and Garry (Lorraine) Layton of North Collins, Mark Layton of Amherst, N.Y., Betty (Andrew) Krivulka, with whom she shared a home in South Dayton and Nancy (Brian) Humphrey of Elmira, N.Y. She is additionally survived by five grandchildren; Desiree, Brandon, Brianna, Ryan, Amanda; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. Layton is preceded by her parents, Clyde and Frances; husband, Bert V. Layton, whom she married on Oct. 3, 1956, and who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2012; a son, Ronald Layton in August of 1995; a granddaughter, Jennifer Mink; and a brother, Leroy Winters.

As per Mrs. Layton’s wishes, visitation will not be observed. A service will be held at a later date at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.
