Frances E. Arrigo

Fran Arrigo age 86 of Perrysburg passed away early Saturday morning January 20, 2024 at home surrounded by love

Born in her family home in Cottage, NY September 21, 1937 one of six children born to Earl and Doris (Allen) Sandy.

Fran married Robert T. Arrigo, Bob passed away Sept. 22, 1996.

A NYS retiree, Fran worked for the former JN Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg . She was the West Team Personnel Adminstrator ;later worked as a Developmental Aid 2 Supervisor at the Dayton Community Home through WNYDDSO . Her New York State employment spanned 40 years.

Fran was an Auxillary member of the Perrysburg Volunteer Fire Dept. She adopted and saved many cats that made their way to Frans house most in need of medical attention or a warm place to be , looking for a meal that knew Fran would provide. Her cats were a big part of her family.

Survivors include a son ; Nicholas E. Arrigo of Cocoran, Minn, and a daughter Roberta“Robbie” (David) Colbert of Seiverville, Tenn., Grandchildren; Lee Arrigo, Chelsea Brennan, Collin Grzescowiak, Talon Colbert, Shane, Zach, Kali, Nick and Levi Arrigo. Six great grandchildren. Fran is also survived by a sister Brenda (Eric)Wood of Franklinville, 2 brothers Al (Eve) Sandy of Fla. and Rich (Diane) Sandy of South Dayton, along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband Fran was preceded in death by 2 sisters Joyce and Eleanor Sandy (died in their teens), 2 daughters; Susanne Grzescowiak (May 4, 2009) , Patricia Brennan (December 11, 2012) and a grandson; Ian Grzescowiak ( 2007)

There will be no prior visitation, as per Frans wishes ;a celebration will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.

If desired, memorials may be made to a local non kill animal shelter.

Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St., Gowanda.
