Roberta V. “Bobbie” Austin, 70, of Dayton, N.Y., passed away at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gowanda, N.Y., on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022.

She was born March 13, 1952, in Silver Creek, N.Y., the daughter of Marilyn (Varney) Turnbull of Dayton, N.Y., and the late Gerald Bruce Turnbull.

Bobbie worked for many years at J.N. Adams in Perrysburg, N.Y. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing the accordion and keyboard. She also liked playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. Bobbie held many bible studies at her home over the years.

Besides her mother she is survived by her daughter, Genevieve (David) Giglia of Caledonia, Ontario, Canada; two sons: Duane (Trish) Hurd of Union City, Pa., and Dustan (Debora) Hurd of Sumter, S.C.; two brothers: Ronald Turnbull of Fredonia, N.Y., and Jay Turnbull of Cottage, N.Y.; two sisters: Rebecca (James) Romine of Ardmore. Okla., and Emily (Reid) Willson of Yukon, Okla. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dale L. Austin, whom she married July 6, 1996, and who died May 22, 2010.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, from 3-6 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
