Leonard F. “Art” Arthur

Leonard F. “Art” Arthur, 93, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at the Gowanda Nursing Home and Rehab.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1928. Art is survived by his loving companion, Barbara Kittle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

For many years, Art was known for his handyman abilities: carpentry, mechanic work, paving work. He also drove truck for many years out of Rochester.

Locally he was a member of many Gowanda bowling leagues and truly loved bowling. For over 30 years, he was a member of the Gowanda Free Methodist Church, and volunteered as an usher for over 10 years. Art enjoyed the outdoors and was always a vocal advocate for anything John Deere.

Besides his longtime companion of 33 years, Art is survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides his parents, Art is predeceased by a brother and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial may be made to the Gowanda Free Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.
