Merrill B. Allen

Merrill B. Allen, 95, passed away at the home of his niece Linda Bliss Route 353 in the Town of Dayton surrounded by family Friday evening Jan. 15, 2021.
Born in Gowanda June 21, 1925, the son of Parke and Mabel (Miller) Allen, Merrill honorably served his country with the United States Army.
He married the former Jane Prince on Sept. 3, 1955, at the Cattaraugus United Methodist Church; Jane passed away Feb. 4, 2015.
Merril was a circuit designer/electronic engineer with the Trainer Corps of Buffalo. Prior to his employment with Trainer, Merrill worked for Sylvania of Niagara Falls and GemCor of Buffalo in the same capacity.
An active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Member to the annual conference, he also was a delegate of the North Eastern Judicial Committee of Methodist Churches, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (I. E.E.E.), the Gowanda American Legion Post 409, was the Treasurer for the Park Lawn Cemetery in Wesley, Merrill also loved to bowl and enjoyed time with his family and friends .
Survivors include a son, Daniel Allen of Neveda City, Ca.; his niece and caregiver, Linda Bliss of Gowanda; five grandchildren: Kaelle, Elias, Mariam, Lucas and Chelsea Allen; three great-grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife of 60 years, Merrill is preceded in death by a son, Darrell Allen (Feb. 3, 2017); a sister, Bernice May Allen Bliss (Feb. 16, 1987); and a brother Wesley Allen (Nov. 17, 2019).
Friends may call Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, from 4- 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda (mask required) where funeral services will be held Saturday January 30, 2021, at 1 p.m. (limited seating) burial to follow in the Park Lawn Cemetery, Wesley. Memorials May be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 11326 Markhams Wesley Road, Gowanda, NY 14070.
