From time to time, special articles appeared in the Gowanda PennySaver/News about people and events in Gowanda's past. This area at GowandaOnline has been set aside to archive those articles so that visitors here will be able to share in these memories in the months and years to come. In addition to those article series, linked below, there have also been historcal photos shared by the Gowanda Historical Museum via Facebook. Reflections - Starting with the issue of February 18, 2001, the Gowanda PennySaver News ran a weekly series called "Reflections" compiled by Mary Pankow.
According to the announcement in that issue:
"Each week, scenes from the past, and occasionally the present, will give readers the opportunity to learn more about the Village of Gowanda and the surrounding area.
Knowing even even a little of the past helps plan for the future."
Millennium Retrospective - Looking forward to the approach of year 2000, this series of articles began on January 25, 1999. It consists of a weekly year-by-year review of the years 1949 to 1999. The series provides a wonderful overview of this significant period of modern Gowanda history.
